Abstract

The Use Of Waste Cooking Oil In Making A Transparant Solid Soap Through Saponification Of Natrium Hydroxyde Process By Adding Lemon Peel Essence (Citrus Aurantifolia) Vera Agustin Sitompul, 2014, 57 pages, 14 tables, 7 pictures, 4 appendixes Waste Cooking oil is the result used cooking oil has been used repeatedly that compound of carsinogen. Accordingly, to increase its economic value, used cooking oil is used a chemical process into the soap as a raw material in the a transparent solid soap of sodium hydroxide saponification process with the addition of essence of lemon peel (Citrus Aurantifolia) waste. The purpose of this study is how the effect of stearic acid and sugar ratio in weight percent (3:11 ; 4:10 ; 5:9 ; 6:8 ; 7:7 ; 10:4) on the quality of the transparent solid soap and get the optimum ratio, based on the SNI 06-3532-1994 standards. The parameters that used in this analysis is a free fatty acid, alkali content, saponification number, water content, pH (Degree of acidity). The result of this study showed that the increasing levels of stearic acid is affected on the quality of its resulting transparent solid soap, because the levels of stearic acid will produce a low moisture content and affect the quality of retention time soap and hardness of soap, and the soap will be blind. The optimum Comparison of stearic acid and sugar is can be used to produce a transparent solid soap according to the standard SNI 06-3532-1994 is 10 grams stearic acid : 4 grams sugar. Key Words : Waste Cooking Oil, Stearic Acid, Sugar, Transparant Solid Soap, Saponification, NaOH.
