Abstract
Polytechnic of Sriwijaya was a college student prioritize the skills and expertise that are applicable to courses taken. Digital modulation technique is one of the existing courses in the Department of Electrical Engineering in Telecommunications Engineering Program. There are ASK-PSK Modulator module that must be learned by and understood by students. Module design is intended to test the skills and abilities that have been studied by the author. In ASK-PSK modulator, there is some block diagram. The blocks of the diagram include RF Amplifiers, Low Pass Filter (LPF), ASK Modulator and Modulator PSK. Each block diagrams have different functions according to the usefulness of each. On the measurement of ASK modulator and PSK Modulator, there are two circumstances, namely measurement Hard Keying and Soft Keying . Hard on the state of the input pulse Keying shaped box will not go into that input LPF experiencing rapid transition from high to low levels. This makes fixed input-shaped digital. While the state of Soft Keying, the input will go to the LPF so that the transition from high-to low-level slow. This makes the input is no longer digitally but will form a shark fin. The fundamental difference between the modulator ASK and PSK modulator waveform is generated. Where in ASK bit 0 will form a straight line and bit 1 will form a sine wave. In PSK bit 0 will experience a phase shift so that the wave will be different from 180 ° to bit 1. Keywords : Modulator, Amplitude Shift Keying, Phase Shift Keying
