Abstract

Tanjung Api-api is one way the province has the function as an access road for vehicles heading to the port of Tanjung Api-api, this way plays an important role in economic growth. But have many points of damage on the road whether it cracks or potholes and pavement decline. Therefore, further research is needed to determine the cause of damage in Jalan Tanjung Api - Api. The research was conducted through visual surveys, survey LHR, research in the field covering DCP testing, testing sandcone, and hand boring. Then also conducted sampling in the field to do research in a lab testing Index Properties (moisture content, sieve analysis, specific gravity and Atterberg) and mechanical testing (laboratory and Compaction CBR). From the results of laboratory testing on soil classified as soil type, namely the ML group sandy silt, clay or inorganic silt with relatively low plasticity according to USCS soil classification system, and according to the AASHTO soil classification system is included in the type of soil class A-5 with characteristics such as soil kelempungan silt. To test the value of CBR in the field can mean value of 12.62% and CBR testing laboratories can be a value of 23.04%, of these results can be seen that the value of a field far below the CBR CBR foundation requirements by 20%. Furthermore, for density testing in the laboratory and in the field to the degree of saturation by 71, 7% <95%. LHR to survey for six days in the peak hour can take place on Saturday with a volume of 3937.8 SMP / Hour with conclusions road cape fires have been included into the street class I but in terms of traffic volume has not met a capacity of> 20,000 junior / Hour. However, when viewed in terms of cargo passing through the axis of heaviest vehicle road cape fires have exceeded the requirement> 10 tonnes for road class 1 and of course the cause of road damage on roads Tanjung Api-api. Thus vehicles through Jalan Tanjung Api - Api weighing should be done on a regular basis and the addition of a vehicle axle to distribute the load. In addition, the need in doing supervision and quality control activities which include material selection, periodic testing, how the implementation, maintenance and upkeep in order to obtain the results of the work in accordance with the standard.
