Abstract
Concrete is a mixture consisting of a combination of the above fine aggregate (sand), coarse aggregate (crushed stone or rock is not broken), cement and using either water or no added ingredients. Future technological developments required not only to look at the structure of the strong alone, but this time the other aspects such as architectural aspects, economical, effective and efficient. Many people try to take advantage of industrial wastes used in the concrete mix. One is that oil palm shell waste palm oil processing industry is shaped like a harsh and coarse aggregate slightly tapered and contains mostly pure activated carbon. During this palm shells are used as a substitute for coarse aggregate to create lightweight concrete. In addition to the replacement of the aggregate, to be able to get the maximum compressive strength of concrete can be done with the treatment of early pressure on the concrete. The commission of the fresh concrete is to eliminate air voids and to achieve maximum density. Compressive strength of concrete will increase the density of concrete. Compaction is done by providing the initial pressure in fresh concrete using concrete compression test machine. The variation of initial pressure treatment is normal concrete without pressure treatment early (BN), normal concrete with initial pressure treatment 12.5 (BNT 12.5), normal concrete with initial pressure treatment 25 (BNT 25), oil palm shell concrete without treatment the initial pressure (BC), oil palm shell concrete with initial pressure treatment 12.5 (12.5 BCT), and oil palm shell concrete with initial pressure treatment 25 (BCT 25). By testing at age 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. From the research results obtained compressive strength of normal concrete without pretreatment of 47.9 MPa concrete with a unit weight of 2.34 gr/cm3. While kua press for oil palm shell concrete without pressure treatment early compressive strength of concrete obtained at 18.84 MPa concrete with a unit weight of 1.67 gr/cm3 small palin. For concrete compressive strength given initial pressure treatment obtained the highest compressive strength of concrete at early pressure 2.5 MPa. With a compressive strength of 53.58 MPa concrete and concrete unit weight of 2.41 gr/cm3 for normal concrete, whereas for oil palm shell concrete compressive strength of concrete obtained at 22.57 MPa concrete with a unit weight of 1.82 gr / cm3. Keywords: concrete, palm shells, the initial pressure, compressive strength of concrete.
