Abstract
xi ABSTRACT THE ANALYSIS TEXT STRUCTURE OF FOLKTALES IN SOUTH SUMATRA BY USING PROPP’S STRUCTURAL MODEL AND THE FOLKTALES CHARACTERISTIC FRAMEWORK DEVELOPED BY TORRES (Joko Purwanto Sihombing 2014, 45 pages, 19 tables) This research problem of this final report is to identify the functions that can be found in the selected folktales based on Propp’s structural model, how the functions are sequenced and what the main characteristics of folktale are found in the selected South Sumatra folktales. The purpose of this final report is finding the textual functions in the selected folktales based on Propp’s structural model and identifying the sequence and folktale plotting in the selected South Sumatra folktales. The research methodology of this final report is triangulation that is part of study case which refers to the use of more than one theoretical position in analyzing data, they are: Prop’s Structural Model and Folktale Characteristic Framework developed by Torres. The last of all, the result of this final report “The Analysis Text Structure of Folktales in South Sumatra by using Propp’s Structural Model and the Folktales Characteristic Framework Developed by Torres” is that both methodologies have the significant similarities and the differences in analyzing the story and they extremely supported each other in helping to analyze any folktales. However, it would be much better if the other supporting methodologies should have been added to identify the function of folktales. Keywords: Folktale, Propp’s structural model, 31 functions, the structure of plot, triangulation
