Abstract

The objectives of this final project was to know how big the short-circuit current from three phases and two phases, the current’s setting and the setting of TMS on over current relay, and also the operating time of over current relay on protecting the fault that happen on Kurma Feeder at Boom Baru Substation. The 3-phase short-circuit current with the biggest value is 4977,16 A to the smallest 1844, 01 A and for 2-phase short-circuit current, the biggest is 4310,34 A and the smallest 1596,96 A. The short-circuit current is used to count the current’s setting and the setting of TMS on over current relay. From the calculation, the result of current’s setting are 219,6 A on the feeder and 866,025 A on the incoming. And for the setting of TMS on feeder is 0,101 and 0,249 on the incoming. It seems that the setting on the feeder is smaller than on the incoming. That is because of the chance given to the relay on the feeder to work firstly, so it could minimize the disturbance area. The operating time of relay is affected by how far the location of the fault, where if the location is getting far, then the short-circuit current will be smaller and the operating time of the relay will be longer. Key words: Short-circuit Current, Over Current Relay, Feeder, Incoming
