Abstract

As we know today that the amount of fossil energy continues to decrease and sometimes scarce. One way that can be used to overcome this problem is utilize renewable energy such as biomass. The examples of biomass such as sawdust and rice husk . To utilize the biomass resources , biomass must undergo a processing before it is used . Drying is one very important step to produce biomass fuel that has a good quality , drying is intended to reduce the water content contained in the biomass and to improve the calorific value of the biomass. Based on previous research conducted by Rita Hertati and Trie Diah Pebriani ( 2014 ) who examines the manufacture biocoal using raw material mixture of coal and biomass still has shortcomings as difficult to be burned. The purpose of this research was to create an easy biopelet burned with biomass feedstocks . This research was conducted by testing proximate analysis and calorific value of biomass. The method that is used by varying the particle size (20 and 60 mesh) and composition of the mixture of raw materials such as rice husk and sawdust (50:50, 25:75 and 75:25) . The results showed that the composition of the mixture biopelet with rice husk and wood almost all parameters are categorized in accordance with the SNI for moisture content , ash content and calorific value . As for the content of volatile matter and fixed carbon content do not fit the category of SNI . This is understandable because of the absence of carbonization process so that the levels of volatile matter and fixed carbon do not fit the category of SNI .
