Abstract

Palm oil waste which known as POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) is a waste from palm oil industries that cause environmental pollution because contain high BOD, COD and TSS. Because of that, its needed special treatment to process the waste for decreasing BOD, COD and TSS value for its not affect the environtment. One of the methods is using membrane thecnology with several composition which is clay, zeolit, silica sand, iron powder and coal fly ash. The utilization of coal fly ash is to decrease COD value on the waste. Composition ratio between clay, zeolit, silica sand, iron powder and coal fly ash is 65(%Wt) : 10(%Wt) : 5(%Wt) : 5(%Wt) : 15(%Wt) can decrease the COD consentration to 61.64 mg/L, BOD to 26.88 mg/L and TSS to 8 mg/L. Permeat analisys result show that the value is appropriate with quality standards of palm oil liquid waste based on Governer Rules of South Sumatera No.8 2012. Key Word : POME, fly ash, ceramide membrane, filtration
