Prototype Steam Power Plant is a mini unit plant steam power plant, equipped with several major units such as boiler furnaces, compressors, pumps, fuel tubes, steam turbine and condenser. The aim of this thesis was to determine the effect of air fuel ratio of the thermal efficiency fire tube boilers and get optimal conditions the air and fuel ratio. The method is carried out literature studies and design. The procedure is done with fixed parameters, namely volume of diesel fuel that is used as much as 4 liters, while the variable parameter is the fuel with the air pressure variation 4, 5, 6, and 7 Bar. In calculating the fuel air ratio requirement, the data used comes from solar ultimate composition and air pressure set on the pressure gauge on the compressor. Based on calculations it can be concluded that the theoretical fuel air ratio is 11.4, while the actual ratio obtained l6,06; 15.85; 15.47; 17.12. From research conducted optimum fuel-air ratio is 15.47 with 43.98% efficiency. Keywords: Fire Tube Boilers, efficiency, air ratio, fuel.
