Abstract

The low productivity of people living in the coastal marine area makes it difficult to get drinking water. To overcome these problems, then created a prototype device than can process sea water into drinking water as a solution to overcome the scarcity of clean water and drinking water as a solution to increase the productivity of appropriate quality standards Indonesia Healt Ministry of the Republic. The Prototype instrument begins with early stage is sea water is sent to a filter for the filtration process. Where in this prototype uses two tubes with different filter packing (filter 1 with carbon active and filter 2 with silica sand). Furthermore, the output filter proced to the evaporator for the evaporation process and the resulting vapor in the condensor and get the final product in the form of drinking water. In this process also conducted an analysis of the characteristic of the resulting product of drinking water , where the test analysis done of DO, Salinity, and Conductivity. Based on the expariment the best results is to use alum coagulant is in the process through a sand filter 1 (using a variety of activated carbon active). With the filtration process until evaporasi process can product quality drinking water physically and chemically. Keywords : Sea water treatment, filtration, evaporation, water
