Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) has the potential to produce biogas as fat fit. Biogas production is done by the process of anaerobic fermentation in the batch digester truncated pyramid. POME waste is mixed with a starter (mixed POME: Cow manure in the ratio 1: 2) which has acclimatized to obtain seed microbes able to decipher the organic substances in the effluent POME. POME and fermented starter in the percentage variation starter digester with 10%, 20% and 30%. Then do the fermentation time variation of the POME and starter are one and four days. This study aims to determine the effect of the percentage ratio of the volume of starter and fermentation time on the quantity of biogas produced. Tests conducted by analysis of pH, COD and temperature and measuring the production of biogas is formed. The results obtained are variations in the percentage of the volume of the starter to give effect to the quantity of biogas which affect the optimum conditions for the microbes that affect the quantity of biogas. In the treatment starter volume percentage of 10% of the biogas produced 1.7972 mol%, 20%, ie 1.4938 mol% and 30%, ie 6.439 mol%. The influence of the quantity of biogas fermentation time that the longer the fermentation, the quantity of biogas generated greater that on the day of fermentation biogas produced 0.0251 mol%, 0.0058 mol%, 2.1287% and a mole on the four days of fermentation produced 1, 7972 mol%, 1.4938% and 6.439% mol mol.
