Abstract
Coal Liquefaction Technology (CLT) is one part of the Clean Coal Technology (CCT), which aims to harness the value to coal as fuel. One of them is the liquefaction process with a furnace that uses an induction system. The choice of using induction furnace is because in addition to the absence of exhaust emissions but also can produce high temperatures faster and heat spread deeper. In coal liquefaction research brown coal with induction heating technology is influenced by several factors including, the size of the coal particles, the ratio of solvent, solvent type, length of time and input power induction heating. Results of the analysis for voltage variations to measure the performance of induction heating is 18 V, 20 V and 22 V shows a comparison in achieving the optimum temperature for the coal liquefaction process is 400oC. Voltage of 22 V is the optimal input voltage to the coal liquefaction process. The size and the ratio of coal and solvent mixtures affect the quality of the product. In the analysis of the calorific value of coal liquefaction product, the highest value shown on the blending ratio of coal : solvent is 1:1 with a size of 200 mesh coal. This shows that the optimum hydrogen transfer from solvent causes the carbon chains are bound by hydrogen. Keywords: Coal, Frequency, Induction, Inverter
