Abstract
The purpose of this final report is to understand how to write a short story with the background of the Mengkuang River located in Jambu Village as an interesting tourist attraction, as well as how the selection of tourist settings, especially the Mengkuang River, affects the storyline, characters, and moral messages in a work of fiction based on local wisdom. This research uses Qualitative Research Design by Walidin, Saifullah & Tabrani with participant stages, data collection techniques, and short story writing techniques. This research is scheduled to take place from April to June 2024. Data were collected through observation and interview. The author hopes that students majoring in English can be more creative and innovative in introducing tourist destinations in Palembang and honing their writing skills.
