Abstract
THE LOSS OF TRADITIONAL FOOD (Tiara Rizka Nuary, 2015, 83 pages, 32 pictures) This research focused on the factors of the loss traditional food and what roles must government do to preserve the traditional food in Palembang. The purposes of this study were to know the kinds of traditional food hard to find, the factors of the loss traditional food, and what roles must government do to preserve and to keep the existence of traditional food in Palembang. The study used qualitative description method. The data were collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire. Based on findings it was found that the most of the sellers in all observation area sell more traditional food made from fish. There are some factors that cause of the loss of traditional food, the food is less familiar, the entry of foreign food, lack of preservation of the food, raw materials and ways of making that difficult. The government should preserve the traditional food in Palembang through a various festival such as culinary festival, make the promotion, enter the traditional food in all big event, etc. The writer suggests to the public and the government to continue to preserve and develop traditional foods that exist in order to stay awake because the existence of traditional food can be something that is very valuable to attract tourists.
