Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of persuasive language in digital tourism brochures as a promotional communication strategy. Language plays an essential role in tourism marketing, not only as a medium of information but also as a tool to influence audience perception and decision-making. In promotional discourse, persuasive language becomes a key element in attracting potential tourists by creating emotional and rational appeal. This research applies a qualitative approach using descriptive qualitative methods. The data are collected from digital tourism brochures published on online platforms such as websites and social media. The data consist of written texts, including descriptions, slogans, and promotional statements. The data collection technique used in this study is documentation. In analyzing the data, this study employs qualitative content analysis. The analysis is based on the framework proposed by Hyland (2018), which focuses on rhetorical strategies and interactional features, and Pradana and Setyabudi (2024), which emphasize lexical choice, sentence structure, and rhetorical devices. Furthermore, the data are classified based on the types of persuasive language referring to Vira and Saragih (2025), as well as the functions of persuasive language in influencing audience perception and decision-making. The findings of this study are expected to identify the dominant types of persuasive language used in digital tourism brochures and explain how linguistic strategies are applied to attract potential tourists. In addition, this study is expected to contribute to the development of applied linguistics, particularly in the field of persuasive language in digital promotional media. Practically, the results of this study may provide insights for tourism marketers in developing more effective promotional strategies in the digital era. Keywords: content analysis, digital tourism brochures, linguistic strategies, persuasive language, tourism promotion.
