Abstract
Meningkatnya jumlah limbah plastik, terutama Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), mendorong pemanfaatannya melalui proses pirolisis untuk menghasilkan char sebagai bahan bakar padat alternatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh suhu dan waktu pirolisis terhadap yield dan karakteristik char plastik PET menggunakan reaktor pirolisis skala laboratorium dengan variasi suhu 300°C dan 400°C serta waktu pirolisis 30–180 menit. Karakteristik char dianalisis berdasarkan kadar air, kadar abu, analisis proksimat, dan nilai kalor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan suhu dan waktu pirolisis menurunkan yield char, dengan yield tertinggi sebesar 29,00% pada 300°C selama 30 menit dan terendah sebesar 16,00% pada 400°C selama 180 menit. Kondisi terbaik diperoleh pada suhu 400°C selama 180 menit dengan kadar air 1,20%, sedangkan hasil analisis proksimat menunjukkan kadar air 3,45%, volatile matter 33,47%, fixed carbon 61,95%, kadar abu 1,13%, dan nilai kalor 8880,54 cal/g (37,16 MJ/kg). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, char hasil pirolisis plastik PET berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan bakar padat alternatif.
