Petroleum fuels derived from fossil thinned along with increasing human population. Challenges to the fuel shortage crisis can certainly be anticipated with the manufacture of fuel derived from renewable biomass. Palm kernel shells are at a palm oil mill waste, which if not treated can contaminate the environment. Briquette is one of the alternative energy sources to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to reduce environmental pollution. In this study tried to study the utilization of palm shells as charcoal briquettes. This study aims to obtain briquettes with quality that meet the SNI so that it can be used as an alternative fuel replacement for oil fuel. Research will be done sulking on previous research conducted by Djoko Purwanto and Sofyan is the method performed by using the experimental method carbonization process at a temperature of 400 oC. In his research using temperature variations authoring and his longtime composing time. Best of all treatments charcoal carbonization temperature 5000C there is a moisture content of 9.12%, ash content of 5.71%, 54.61% bound carbon content, calorific value 5814, volatile matter 30.35%.
