Abstract
Soil is a basic material which is very important in the construction, because in this earth of a construction rests. However, not all the soil is used in the construction field because there are some kinds of basic soil are problematic in the terms of both the soil bearing capacity and in the terms of the decline (deformation) soil. One type of the soil problem is expansive clay. The expansive clay which have a large shrinkage and development properties and behavior which is strongly influenced by the water. This study aims to determine the amount of energy influence the compaction, soaking time, and moisture content of the soaked CBR value and without immersion clay in Jakabaring Palembang. In this study conducted by a few tests which were: physical properties testing that includes moisture content, density, consistency limit, sieve analysis and hydrometer, and also mechanical properties of soil covering compaction test (standard and modified proctor) and unsoaked ad soaked CBR testing. In the CBR test if the water content increased, the value of CBR also increased until the soil reached the optimum moisture content, if the earth water level was already pass the optimum water content, then the value of CBR will be decreased. This leads to a unsoaked and soaked CBR value, that was unsoaked CBR value greater than the value of CBR were soaked. This was because the soil had been soaked in water absorbs too much so that the CBR value would be decreased drastically.
