Abstract
Energy is still the mainstay is still focused on the production of fuels from petroleum and gas. One effort to overcome this condition is to develop new and renewable energy such as biodiesel. Biodiesel can be used directly on the machine without modification and environmentally friendly. Biodiesel can be made from used cooking oil because it still contains triglycerides. Biodiesel production process is done by going through the stages of oil filtration, oil transesterification into biodiesel and biodiesel laundering. The transesterification process occurs using a heater and stirrer reactor centrifugal pumps are modified. The amount of methyl ester formed from the process transesetrifikasi influenced by the ratio of the feed and operating conditions take place. Making biodiesel using waste cooking oil temperature variation of 40 ℃, 45 ℃ and 50 ℃. The type of alcohol used is 12% by weight of raw materials methanol and ethanol and a catalyst NaOH 3% by weight of alcohol. The result showed that biodiesel appropriate quality standard ISO at the optimum operating conditions 50 ℃ to use methanol to energy consumption amounted to 608.100 Joule.
