Abstract
Preparation of final report aims to evaluate the ability of the Circuit Breaker to protect short circuit that occurs in Substation Bukit Siguntang. Short circuit that occur can disrupt electrical power distribution to consumers. Therefore Vacuum Circuit Breaker is used as a protective device on the 20 kV system to dampen the arcing process arising from the short circuit. Evaluation is to determine the ability of the Circuit Breaker in overcoming the short circuit interruption that may occur in Substation Bukit Siguntang. The results obtained from the evaluation of the Circuit Breaker is still able to protect the disturbance that occurs in each feeder because the disturbance is still below the value of the Circuit Breaker breaking capacity of 25 kA, the maximum fault current that occurs only at 4242 A. Based on the age of the existing circuit breakers on each feeders, Circuit Breakers are still able to use at least 15 years again, because of the existing circuit breaker on the feeder while the age of only 10 years the investment of the circuit breaker that is 25 years old. If the Circuit Breaker reach the age of 15 years in the future then it must be the replacement Circuit Breaker, although Circuit Breaker that is still in good condition, for the safety of the equipment there.
