Abstract
Waste cooking oil is a waste that contains free fatty acid which can contaminate soil and ground, and also can be used for producing biodiesel. Besides cheaper than any other materials for biodiesel and also increasing number of waste cooking oil from restaurant, hotel, household, and etc, it will increase the number of waste too. Therefore, we need a prototype that can be used for processing waste cooking oil to biodiesel, which is using continuous system biodiesel prototype. Production of biodiesel can be done by varying kinds and concentrations of catalyst. Variation of the kinds of catalysts are KOH and NaOH and variation of the concentrations of catalyst are 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% with paramaters including density, flash point, water content, viscosity, and calorific value. The result shows that kinds and concentrations of catalyst which is good for producing biodiesel is KOH with 4% concentrations of catalyst with the acquisition of 0,877 gr/ml for density; 150,5oC for flash point; 0,075 % for water content; 10,019 cSt for viscosity and 9866,589 cal/gr for calorific value.. This result shows that continuous system biodiesel prototype can produce biodiesel which meet the requirements of biodiesel quality standards based from SNI-04- 7182-2006.
