Abstract

This research aim to make the briquettes maker with hydraulic system and briquette stove; get briquettes that comply ISO Standar; and characterize the results of briquette based on composition and pressure. The briquettes maker use motor 2 HP as the movers where oil as the fluid’s work on this tool. Maximum pressures that can be achieved i.e 400 psi and theres 4 pieces of the mold with diameter 8 cm, height 5 cm and the diameter of the holes is 1 cm. Meanwhile, the briquette stove uses up and downgrate systems where the kiln can be scaled back and there is scraper in it. This testing is done with the variation of pressures i.e., 400, 300, 200 psi. As well as variation of composition with coal and sawdust (75%:25% ; 50%:50% ; and 25%:75%). There are some parameters required that have complied SNI that are a heat value levels and ash contents while moiture, FC and VM contents didnt comply it. Briquettes’s moisture content ranged from 11,7%-13,7% and VM ranged 45,41%-49,89%. This effect will be impact in the combustion. Where heat value of briquettes range 4900-5774 kal/gr, time of igniton briquettes range 23,14-33,31 seconds and the temperature combustion briquette range 289,7-329,7oC. From the result of this research showerd that pressure and composition affect the quality and the combustion process of the briqutte.
