Abstract

In operation of the electrical power system, often happen fault that can resulted in disruption the distribution of electrical energy to the consumer. The more often fault happen, the level of reliability will be lower and the losses in PLN will be higher. This final report is intended to analyze the fault that often happen in Banteng Feeder at Bukit Siguntang Substation. Then calculating the current of short circuit fault, looking at the characteristic and calculating the time setting of protection relay, doing a case study, calculating how much the losses in PLN, and looking at the level of Banteng Feeder reliability. The fault which often happen is becaused of temporary fault. The highest current of short circuit fault is 4458,3 A, while the lowest is 272,74 A. The protection relay in Banteng Feeder will trip with time setting 0,58 second for over current relay and 0,33 second for ground fault relay. In the period from January to May of 2013, there were 24 blackout / customer /5 months with 2,062 hours of blackout time / customer / 5 months and made losses in PLN Rp 6.560.230,05. Then in the period January to May 2014, as many as 31 blackout /customers /5 months with blackout time for 12.52 hours/customer/5 months, resulting in the losses of PLN Rp 47.284.143,39. From the frequency and duration of these blackout indicate that Banteng Feeder is not reliably feeder. Keywords: temporary fault, the current of short circuit fault, losses, the level of reliability
