Abstract
The role of punctuation in language is very important to make the meaning of sentence clear and easy to understand. Because of that, the writer presents this final report entitle “Error Analysis of Using Punctuation in Abstract of Final Report at English Department of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya.”. This final report aimed at analyzing the error of punctuation mark in final report abstract at English Department of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. This final report discusses about the kinds of error punctuation mark found in final report abstract. The purpose of final report is to find out what the punctuation errors are made by the students in writing the abstract of final report in English Department of State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. In this final report, the writer uses descriptive method. Therefore, the data were collected from analyzing the abstract in 10 students by collecting the abstract of final report, reading the abstract of final report, identifying the errors of punctuation in abstract, and interpreting the result of the errors punctuation in abstract of final report at English Department of State Poytechnic of Sriwijaya. The result shows that the students of English Department did not use all types of punctuation in abstract. They made error to place and use the punctuation especially comma and period.
