Abstract

Grounding on the generator is intended to divide the voltage when a short-circuit phase to ground occurs and when there is a touch stress and a step voltage that can be harmful to humans. Reliable grounding can be known from the value of earth resistance which does not exceed the standard General Electrical Installation Requirements and State Electricity Company Standards. A value of grounding resistance can be affected by several factors such as soil type resistance, number of soil electrodes, size of soil electrode, age of earth equipment, etc. This report aims to determine whether the value of earth generator resistance still meets the standards and how the influence of electrode length against grounding resistance value. From the result and the discussion, it can be concluded that the earth turbine gas generator at PT.PLN (Persero) of Keramasan Generation Sector still fulfill the standard and the effect of the length of earth electrode to the earth resistance value, the longer the grounding electrode the smaller the earth resistance value.
