Abstract

PT Pupuk Sriwijaya Palembang is a fertilizer factory located in Palembang city. One part of the fertilizer production process at PT Pupuk Sriwijaya is a condensed water process that aims to cool primary reformers. To drain the condensed water, a water pump is driven by a 3 phase induction motor. This water pump is connected to 3 Phase induction motors horizontally. This condensed water is flowed through a 3-inch pipeline with a total length of 96.4 M length of pipes. To find out the amount of power used in induction motors 3 Phases as drives of condensed water pumps, Conducted the evaluation of power consumption by directly measuring the three phase induction motor and calculate the amount of mechanical power required on the pump. Large input power on the induction motor of 26,62 KW, while the output power of the induction motor is 15,48KW. For mechanical power of 3.23 KW with efficiency at motor 63,36%. Therefore it is necessary to replace the induction motor to a smaller power because the magnitude of mechanical power required is much smaller than currently installed. .
