Abstract
This research is about designing short story with the title “Hope” written in English language. The purpose of writing this final report is to find out the steps in Designing short story. To get the purpose, the writer used Research and Development (R&D) method by Sukmadinata (2005). The result show that, there are 3 steps to made the short story. They are : Preliminary study, development of the product, and final product testing. The modification was conducted due to limited time and cost. The short story was written by the writer and supported by some experts’suggestions for a better final version. It was reviewed by 4 experts in 2 aspects : the content of story and language. Based on the result, the writer expected that knowledge about short story, and English writing skill knowledge were really needed. In developing the short story draft, the criticism and suggestion provided by experts were very valuable.
