Abstract
This research focuses on analyzing” the use of tenses in the research methodology chapter of students’ final reports” in English Department graduated in 2017. It was done to know the use of tenses in the research methodology chapters.The descriptive method by Kumar (2011) was used in the research. By analyzing 25 samples of research methodology chapters of students’ final reports, there were four tenses used by the students: simple present tense 570 sentences, simple past tense 518 sentences, future tense 35 sentences and perfect tense 5 sentences. Most of sentences were written correctly, just a few of them were written incorrectly. The most errors were written in simple present tense and the errors were classified into four, they aremisformation,omission, addition, and misordering.
