Abstract

Antenna is one of the most important components in a telecommunications system. Antennas have a role as a modifier of electric current as electromagnetic waves. The types of antenna types are very diverse, one of them is the microstrip antenna. Microstrip antenna is an antenna with an effective and efficient form so that it is quite easy to fabricate and apply. The use of science and technology is now increasing along with the times. This development is also seen in the improvement in the quality of telecommunications technology. One of them is wi-fi technology which is a development of telecommunication technology which has become the main need of the community. Antenna is one of the supporting components in the transceiver system on Wi-Fi. In this final report, a Square Patch Microstrip Antenna will be created with a slot on the right and left of the microstrip line that works on the 802.11a, 802.11n wi-fi frequency at the 5 GHz frequency. To keep up with the increasingly advanced technology development and the limitations of practicum modules in the Telecommunications Laboratory, in this final report an antenna is designed, simulated and realized that is capable of working at the 5 GHz frequency as an Antenna and Propogation learning practical media. This Microstrip antenna is designed by carrying out CST Studio Suite 2016. Simulator Software. Based on the antenna measurement results, the return loss is -17,221, Gain is 2.59 dBi. VSWR of 1.3, and linear polarization and directional radiation patterns.
