Abstract

THE EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE AND SLUDGE STIRRING SPEED OF THE PALM OIL INDUSTRY IN OIL PRODUCTION FOR MAKING LIQUID SOAP (Yunita Ayu Lestari, 2014, 73 pages, 15 tables, 12 pictures, 5 enclosures) Sludge is a waste that has not been utilized well and just discarded as a industry waste by PT. Hindoli (A Cargill Company). Because of that, utilization of sludge waste to produce compound additives required in the manufacture of liquid soap. The purpose from this research is processing the sludge waste. This research has done to find out the effect of temperature comparison (50, 80, 90, 100, and 130℃) and stirring speed (80, 160, 240, and 480 rpm) on quality of the resulting oil from temperature and the best stirring time that can be used to produce a soap with SNI standard 06-3532-1994. The result of this research showed that the temperature and stirring time are reacted againts the result of liquid soap quality, because the oil is generated from temperature and sludge stirring time will result a better ability to clean up the dirt, a better smell, a lower free fatty acid, a lower water content. The temperature of comparising and the best sludge stirring speed has result at 90℃ temperature and 90 rpm of stirring speed can be used to produce liquid soap with SNI standard.
