Abstract
Decreasing of fossil fuel reserves in the world led to some people try to get alternative energy sources. One of the criteria for alternative energy sources in the future is a source of environmentally friendly energy. Biodiesel derived from in situ lipid tranesterification process of plant or animal fullfil these criteria. The purpose of this research is to produce biodiesel from soybean residue through in situ transesterification process. Producing biodiesel from soybean dregs includes 3 steps. The first step is the removal of water content results in raw materials. The second step is the manufacture of biodiesel from soybean dregs by in situ transesterification process. The third step is purification results and the fourth step is analysis results. To obtain biodiesel, first removal process in conventional water content, then the process of in situ transesterification with methanol. With a 1:1 ratio of raw materials. Reaction temperatures used 60oC and using NaOH catalyst with a catalyst concentration of 1% -2.5% and the processing time of 60 min-120 min, then the reaction products be allowed to form 2 layers. The top layer is the biodiesel, the bottom layer is glycerol. It can be concluded that on 60 minutes, with the addition of 1% NaOH produce the maximum volume is 18 ml. The results of the analysis showed that biodiesel produced generally have fulfilled SNI 04-7182-2006 standard specifications. Key Word : biodiesel;transesterifcation in situ; soybean waste
