Abstract

National energy consumption indicate that increasing energy needs, while the energy reserve of fossil fuels are depleting. One of the fuel oil that is widely used by Indonesian society is kerosene. The use of waste cooking oil as an alternative fuel is an alternative solution has several advantages, both in terms of availability, economic, and ecological health. Technically used cooking oil can be used as biofuel, but the high viscosity levels still a constraint. For mixing was done with kerosene, kerosene so that the criteria meet the criteria that can be used on the press stove. The important criteria that affect the performance hit is burning on the stove levels of density, viscosity, flash point, smoke point, and the coefficient of thermal conductivity. The ratio of used cooking oil and kerosene mixtures used were 100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50. From the test data of physical properties and chemical mixtures research results it can be seen that the ratio of the mixture of oil that have performance approaching the burning kerosene is a mixture of 50:50 ratio, with a density of 0.851 g/mL, the viscosity of 30.637 g/cm.s, a flash point of 38 oC, smoke point of 51 mm, the heating value of 11568.97 cal/g and the coefficient of thermal conductivity of 7.08 W/m.C.
