Abstract
THE MAKING OF BRIQUETTES FROM A MIXTURE OF BETUNG BAMBOOS AND BINTARO FRUITS BY CARBONIZATION Jessi Dwi Suda; 54 pages ; 16 table ; 20 pictures ; 4 enclosure ; 2014 Charcoal briquette is a smokeless fuel whichis a type of solid fuel substances made flying low enough so that the smoke generated in the utilization of health carewill not interfere with the user's own briquettes. In this study, charcoal briquettes made from betung bamboo and bintaro fruit using corn flour. This study aims to obtain briquettes bioarang with the best quality by varying the carbonization temperature and composition of raw materials. The method used in this studies experiment so rexperimental methods. Variation of carbonization temperature used was 4000C, 4500C and 5000C, with a ratio of raw material composition of betung bamboo and bintaro fruit 25%: 75%, 50%: 50%, and 75%: 25%. This briquettemaking through several stages of the preparation of raw materials, the initial analysis, the making of briquette and final analysis. The results from this study that the composition of raw materials bintaro fruit betung bamboo and bintaro fruit carbonization temperature of 5000C and the composition 75%:25% with Inherent Moisture values obtained for 2.13%, 3.25% ash, volatile matter content of 22.75%, 71.2% fixed carbon and calorific value 6973.3 cal/g. The authors conclude that the composition of the raw materialof bintaro fruit and betung bamboo 75%:25% obtained an optimum charcoal briquettes. In this case I suggest to do some research of betung bamboo and bintaro fruit order to obtain a higher calorific value, so that the resulting charcoal briquettes have the best quality.
