Abstract

THE CHARACTERISTIC OF PRODUCED EMISSION FROM THE MIXING RATIO BETWEEN GASOLINE AND BIOETHANOL (Gustri Wiranata, 2014, 40 pages, 11 tables, 11 pictures, 4 attachments) Needs and consumption of fuel oil increasing inversely proportional to its availability. To solve this problem, there should be an alternative energy sources that can reduce the use of fossil fuels, one of which is bioethanol. With levels of 99% bioethanol can be used as a direct fuel in motor vehicles or used as an addition in premium fuel. The mixture between gasoline and bioethanol commonly called gasohol. Gasohol is an alternative fuel that addressed for gasoline vehicles which commonly used in society. Addition of bioethanol to the number of premium fuel commonly referred as BE. Gasohol has been shown to increase the octane number of gasoline fuel, and lower levels of exhaust emissions produced, with the parameters of flue gas CO, CO2 and NOx. This study aims to look at the most optimum variation from mixing between gasoline and ethanol to produce the best characteristics, especially in the levels of exhaust emissions. Variations used in this study was BE8, BE12 and BE16 (8:92, 12:88, 16:84). From the results, it can be seen that the gasohol that has the highest octane number and the lowest levels of exhaust emissions is the variation of mixing gasohol 16:84 (BE16), with proceeds amounting to 91.68 octane number and the levels of CO emissions by 287 ppm, CO2 1% and 0 ppm NOx.
