Abstract

Prototype Biomass Gasification System Updraft Single Gas Outlet (Performance Review of Biomass Gasification (Shell Coconut) System Updraft Single Gas Outlet) (Weni Kurnia Sari, 2014, 46 Page, 7 Table, 20 Picture, 4 Appendix) As the population growth and technological progress, energy requirements have increased control. During the years 2000-2011, the average energy consumption increased by 3% per year. For that, it is time for Indonesia to reduce dependence on fossil fuels by developing renewable energy sources one of which is to utilize biomass as a feedstock in gasification technology. Gasification is the conversion of solid fuel to gas fuel capable (CO, CH4, H2) through a combustion process using a restricted air that is between 20% to 40% stoichiometric air. This research was carried out by using coconut shell as much as 1.5 kg, 2 kg, and 2.5 kg. Experiments were carried out with variations of combustion air flow rate of 0.5 cmH2O, 1 cmH2O and 1.5 cmH2O. Variation of air flow rate is adjusted using the valve of the blower is connected to a manometer U so didapan different tap on the manometer is converted into a flow liters per minute (lpm). Optimum Syngas composition obtained in the first experiment with air flow rate of 97.3 lpm. The syngas composition analysis results are CO = 21.26 = 13.83 CH4 and H2 = 8.31 (mol%). In this condition is met% 41.35% Efficiency of gasification with LHV = 5.259 MJ/m3. Keywords: Gasification, Updraft Single Gas Outlet, Efficiency of gasification, LHV.
