Abstract

Lubricant oil or chemicals that are generally liquid and given in between two moving objects to reduce frictional forces. The purpose of this research for reclaiming oil that is used with the addition of natural additives leaves kapok oil to be worth taking back the appropriate standard xp prime oil. The quality of lubricating oil is largely determined by the physical and chemical properties. In the experiment, the used oil is recycled by using chemicals. The results of recycling used oil coupled with variations in the composition of additives cottonwood leaf extract with a ratio of 120: 3, 120 6, 120: 9, 120: 12, 120: 15. kapok leaves extract contains flavonoids that act as antioxidants capture free radicals. Test parameters to determine the quality of the lubricant density, viscosity, viscosity index, flash point and fire point. From the research that has been done obtained results show an increase in quality. This is shown with a decrease in density, flash point and fire point, and the increase in viscosity. Lubricants are approaching the characteristics of the xp prime lubricant in the composition of cottonwood leaves extract of 120: 15 ml obtained density of 0.862 g / ml and viscosity (room temperature) of 259.3012 Cst (cm2 / s), and at the flash point and fire point that is in comparison cottonwood leaf extract at 120: 6 ml obtained at 239 0C flash point and fire point of 252 0C.
