Abstract

Well water is murky from Tegal Binangun, Palembang not meet water quality standards. This causes needed technology to produce clean water quality that meets quality standards MENKLH RI. The technology used is a composite ultrafiltration membrane technology based on chitosan-PVA with a comparison of raw materials 75%: 25%. The main parameters in this study is the permeability (flux), rejection of pH, turbidity rejection and rejection fe. From the research, the pure water flux reached 40.95 L/m2.Jam, so that the membrane is feasible to use. Rejection optimum pH is at a pressure of 0.5 bar at 30 ppm coagulant. This condition produces a pH value of 7.97 with the rejection of 2.92%. As for the rejection of turbidity, optimum condition occurs when the pressure of 0.5 bar with a coagulant concentration of 30 ppm. These conditions result in turbidity value of 0.72 NTU with a rejection of 96.88%. For the rejection of iron (fe), the optimum condition occurs at a pressure of 2 bar with a coagulant concentration of 10 ppm, which resulted in the value of iron content (fe) of 1.7286 with rejection of 31.42%. So the writer coclues that the murky well water treatment using chitosan-PVA composite membran for paramater pH, turbidity and iron content (fe) already meets clean water standars according to provisions No.907/MENKES/SK/VII/2012 minister of Health RI.
