Abstract

(Nurul Kholidah, 2014, 41 halaman, 17 tabel, 10 gambar, 5 lampiran) Kelangkaan bahan bakar khususnya gasoline sudah menjadi isu utama dalam beberapa tahun belakangan ini, sehingga harus segera dilakukan pencarian bahan bakar alternatif, salah satunya adalah dengan penggunaan bahan bakar gasohol yang merupakan campuran dari bioetanol dan gasoline dengan perbandingan tertentu, hal ini dikarenakan bahan bakar nabati (bioetanol) belum dapat berdiri sendiri sebagai pengganti murni bahan bakar konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh rasio campuran bioetanol dan gasoline terhadap karakteristik gasohol dan kinerja mesin kendaraan bermotor. Dari penelitian ini bioetanol yang digunakan adalah bioetanol hasil fermentasi ubi kayu dengan kadar 94 % dengan perbandingan bioetanol dan gasoline (0 : 100 %), (7 : 93 %), (10 : 90 %) dan (14 : 86 %). Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh karakteristik gasohol yang mendekati karakteristik gasoline adalah campuran (7 : 93 %) sedangkan variasi campuran bahan bakar bioetanol dan gasoline lainnya masih berada dalam rentang toleransi sifat karakteristik bensin. Untuk uji kinerja mesin kendaraan terjadi peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar dan penurunan kadar emisi gas buang, dimana konsumsi terbesar adalah 1,34 L/Jam dan kadar emisi gas buang terendah dengan kadar O2 sebesar 18,7 %, CO sebesar 335 ppm, dan CO2 sebesar 1,2 % pada rasio campuran bioetanol dan gasoline (14 : 86 %). English : (Nurul Kholidah, 2014, 41 pages, 17 tables, 10 pictures, 5 attachment) Scarcity of fuel, especially gasoline has become a major issue in recent years, so it must be done immediately by searching an alternative fuels, one of which is the use of gasohol fuel which is a mixture of ethanol and gasoline with a certain ratio, this is due to biofuels (bioethanol) can not stand alone as a pure substitute for conventional fuels. This study aims to determine the effect of blending ratio on the characteristics of bioethanol and gasoline and gasohol motor vehicle engine performance. In this study, the bioethanol used is fermented cassava bioethanol with 94% levels with a ratio of bioethanol and gasoline (0:100%), (7:93%), (10:90%) and (14:86%). From the study, there was obtained some results that the gasohol which had the closest characteristic with gasoline is a mixture of (7: 93%) while the variation of the fuel mix of bioethanol and gasoline are still within the range of tolerance characteristic properties of gasoline. For testing the performance of the vehicle's engine, there was an increasing fuel consumption and decreasing levels of exhaust emissions, which is the largest consumption of 1.34 L / hour and the lowest levels of exhaust emissions with O2 levels by 18.7%, amounting to 335 ppm CO, and CO2 1.2% in a mixture of bioethanol and gasoline ratio (14: 86%).
