Abstract

PROTOTYPE OF PYROLYSIS EQUIPMENT (The Effect of LPG Preasure to Thermal Efficiency of Pyrolysis Equipment Using Feedstock From Palm Shells) ( Ria Fauziah, 2014, 116 Pages, 36 Tables, 37 Pictures, 4 Appendixes ) The Utilization of waste biomass that is often used is palm shell waste is waste that is often found in Indonesia and can be processed into a solid alternative fuels and can also be used for the manufacture of liquid smoke. Pyrolysis process is carried out on palm shells occur in places authoring (direct combustion) which requires controlling the fire so that the material contained in the mangrove authoring space does not become ashes, besides the authoring condenser is also required to produce liquid smoke. Variations in the preasure of LPG used for controlling the fire is 239 atm, 240 atm and 241 atm which is a fixed variable to calculate the thermal efficiency, specific fuel requirements (SFC) and to determine the quality of the charcoal and smoke liquid from palm shell. From the calculated value of thermal efficiency decreases with the increasing of preasure of LPG, where the optimum thermal efficiency at the LPG’s Preasure of 239 atm it is 52%. SFC value is inversely proportional to the thermal efficiency, that is with increasing LPG’s preasure of the fuel consumption of the fuel will also rise, which the optimum SFC at the LPG’s pressure 239 atm it is 4483,473 Kcal/Kg Product. Proximate quality test of oil palm shell char is appropriate with Indonesian national Standard (SNI) except, quality of ash up to 2,2 % and moisture content less than 7,8 %. Parameter of volatile matter less than 6,5 % and fixed carbon up to 20,5 % are higher than SNI value. Quality test of phenol is lower than based on before research, The range are 0,2 % - 2,9 %.
