Coconut husk and sawdust is a waste of potential to be used as activated charcoal as adsorbent media. The purpose of this study is to make activated charcoal according to the standard SII No.0258-79; to know krakteristik of activated charcoal such as moisture content, ash content, iodine absorption and absorption of methylene blue; to study the effect of increasing the concentration of the activator in the activated carbon absorption potential. Charcoal from coconut husk and sawdust made by the carbonization process at a temperature of 400-450 ° C with H2SO4 activator concentration is 2M, 4M, 6M, 8M, and 10M. Where charcoal from both the material is processed into three adsorbents namely: coconut fiber, wood powder and coconut coir: sawdust. Activated charcoal from coconut husk and sawdust has potential as an adsorbent media. The results of research conducted moisture content and ash content for all three adsorbents approximately 8.80% - 6, 46% and 8.66% -3.16%. For the absorption of active iodine is mg/g-853 611 mg / g while the absorption of methylene blue with a range of 17 -19 mg / g. Judging from the characteristics of the activated carbon will be closer to the standard SII.0258-79 Activated charcoal from coconut husk and sawdust are used as a medium in sewage treatment indrustri traditional weaving where absorption of waste ranges from 24.2802% - 67.6605%. Activator concentration is very influential in increasing the absorption potential of activated charcoal. From the analysis, it can be seen that the higher the concentration of activators, it can increase the absorption of charcoal. Optimum conditions on activated charcoal coconut fiber, wood flour, and coconut fiber: wood powder with activator concentration of 8 M. At optimum conditions absorption of iodine and color degradation increases while the activator concentration 10 M has entered the saturation point.
