Abstract

SUPERFICIAL LIME (CaO) AS CATALYST FOR MAKING A BIODIESEL FROM WASTE COOKING OIL (THE COMPARISON EFFECT OF TOTAL WASTE COOKING OIL WITH METHANOL AND TEMPERATURE) BoniJunita, 2014, 45 Pages, 6 Tables, 11 Pictures, 4 Enclosures. This research showed that waste cooking oil is used as raw materials for making biodiesel and superficial lime (CaO) is used as catalyst because the values of two of them are cheap, easy to get and use methanol as a reactant for making biodiesel. Superficial lime catalyst is dried and heated to decrease the content of water. The making of biodiesel is done with transesterification process with purification process with the heating until 2 hours. The purposes of these research are to make biodiesel and to determine the comparison of total of waste cooking oil with total of methanol and optimum temperature, and to determine of used superficial lime catalyst. From this research, product biodiesel is belong to Indonesian National Standard. The Analyzing of physical and chemical characteristic based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 7182:2012 to viscosity, density, acidity number and content of water parameters. Whereas, to caloric value based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 04-7182-2006. Key words : Biodiesel, waste cooking oil, superficial lime and lime catalyst
