Abstract

The Use Of Waste Cooking Oil In Making A Transparant Liquid Soap Through Saponification Of Kalium Hydroxyde Process By Adding Lemon Peel Essence (Cyrus Aurantifolia) Yenny Sinaga, 2014, 55 pages, 17 tables, 11 pictures, 4 appendixes Waste cooking oil growing overflow with the increase production and consumption is high enough for the community. To minimize consumption is waste cooking oil, then made use of used cooking oil in a way back to the manufacturing process transparent liquid soap. Transparent liquid soap saponification process is produced from waste cooking oil heating with KOH at a temperature of 1000C and then adding other additives (stearic acid, NaCl, DEA, citric acid, and sugar) followed by dilution corresponding variable using ethanol and glycerin and soap formation during 2 days. The variables of this study is the amount of ethanol and glycerin in a weight percent (5:25; 6:24; 7:23; 8:22; 9:21; 10:20) to obtain optimum conditions. The parameters used in the analysis of the transparent liquid soap is pH (degree of acidity), free fatty acids, free alkali content, saponification number, and moisture content. Transparent liquid soap optimum amount of ethanol obtained from the addition of 7 g and 23 g glycerin. Analysis of data obtained in accordance with SNI 06-3532-1994 standards include pH 10; free alkali content 0.056%; 42.63 saponification number mgKOH / g and a water content of 10%.
