Abstract

This final report discusses the advertising conducted by Muhammadiyah University of Palembang. The purpose of writing this reposrt is to know how influential advertising is used against the number of registrants each year. Data for the writing of this final report is obtained through interviews with the Head of Public Relations and Information Bureau at the institution and the existing documents at the Muhammadiyah University of Palembang in the form of the number of registrants each year. After getting the data about the number of registrants of Strata 1, it turns out that in the last 3 years the number of registrants always decreased. Though the purpose of advertisement is to help increase the number of registrants. Therefore, the authors distributed questionnaires to analyze which advertising campaigns were influential and had no effect on increasing the number of registrants. The results of the questionnaires were processed using SPSS 16.0. The resource methods are validity test, reliability test, t test, f test, coefficient of determination, and multiple regression. The result shows that advertisement affects 63.5% of the total number of registrants, while individually, brochures, billboards, and newspapers affect the number of registrants while, the radio has no effect on the number of applicants. Then, in the use of advertisements there are 36.5% of unused advertisements that are television, magazines and banners. Radio should be transferred to the radio that has the young listener and the rest of the use of unused advertisements, should be used by the Muhammadiyah University of Palembang so the advertisements will be maximal.
