Abstract

This study discusses about common jargon in Jakarta Post and the frequency of using it. The title of this study is The Identification of Common Jargon Found in Jakarta Post. The study aims to know the forms of common jargon found in Jakarta Post and find the form of common jargon used in Jakarta Post. The research questions in this study are what the forms of jargon that found in Jakarta Post and what the forms of common jargon mostly found in Jakarta Post. The research method is descriptive method while the data were collected through documentation method. The writer collected the data from the printed daily newspaper of Jakarta Post of 16th June 2014 until 25th June 2014.The result shows that there are four forms of jargon that found in Jakarta Post including word forms, phrase forms, abbreviation forms, and acronym forms. On the other hand, the writer found that the word forms is the most forms of jargon that found in Jakarta Post newspaper. Then, the acronym forms are seldom used in Jakarta Post newspaper.
