Abstract

Subgrade is the foundation for the pavement, pavement either contained in the traffic flow or road shoulders. Thus subgrade is the last construction that receives the vehicle load supplied by the pavement. In the case of a simple, subgrade can consist of native soil without treatment while in other cases more general, subgrade consists of native soil in the excavation or the top of the heap is compacted. Meranjat-kayuagung road is the access causeway east. This road is located on the residential area which is largely a swampy area. Based on observations encountered a lot of damage on this road. Viewed from the road layout in the area may be caused by a lack of basic soil bearing capacity. This research was conducted in the field and in laboratories, field testing was conducted in order to have this field cbr value and soil sampling to be tested in the laboratory. Laboratory tests conducted to determine the effect of a percentage addition of a mixture of cement and sand. Percentage adding sand used is 15%, while the percentage increase of cement used were 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Based on the results of testing in the field and in the laboratory showed that the CBR value of the field is far below the minimum requirement of 20% CBR foundation. In the field of testing found that the average value of 6.78% CBR field. While in the testing laboratory CBR value increased after added a mixture of cement and sand. In the CBR unsoaking original soil value percentage is 21.71% while soaking CBR value is 4.48%. The addition of a mixture of cement and sand are most effective is the percentage of 10% cement and 15% sand with CBR value of 44.93% unsoaking and soaking CBR value of 56.77%. Keywords : Subgrade, CBR, a mixture of cement and sand
