Abstract
Yunita Utari, 40 page, 7 Table, 4 Picture, 3 Attachment Utilization of banana peel as the making plastic materials is one way of reducing plastic waste. Banana peel is a waste from crispy chips of banana production industry. Starch content from banana peel can be made to biodegradable plastic. In order to repaired the characteristic plastic , it needs assistive, the additive is sorbitol as plasticizer. Variation in this experiment of two factors : composition from sorbitol and drying duration. Composition sorbitol used in thus experiment were 1 ml, 1,5 ml, 2ml, 2,5 ml and 3 ml. Drying duration used were 3 hours and 5 hours. Result obtained from this experiment are the addition of sorbitol can lower tensile strength, increase % swelling and accelerate degradable plastic. Drying duration can increase tensile strength and % swelling. The result of this experiment are the optimum composition of the plasticizer are 1,5 ml and drying duration 5 hours with tensile strength value 0,0126 Mpa, Swelling value 15,56 %, and plastic degraded within 10 days. Keywords : Plastic, Biodegradable, banana peel, sorbitol.
