Abstract
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF TRAVEL WRITINGS OF STUDENTS AT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT (Anisa Turahmah, 2016, 51 pages, 25 tables) Travel writing is a medium to share experiences of traveller after doing vacation in tourism destination. The purpose of this research is to find out the characteristics of students’ travel writings at English Department especially in fourth semester, State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. The writer also used qualitative method to analyze the characteristics of travel writings where she analyzed the writings one by one. After getting the data, the writer classified it into tables and explain it more detail. The result shows that there are six characteristics mostly found in students’ travel writings, they are title, lead (opening), ending, systematicism, travel guide, and grammar. At the end, English Department students should learn more about travel writings.
