Abstract
Indonesia is one of the largest countries rubber producing in the world. The rubber plantation increased with increasing production of rubber in Indonesia, so that the resulting waste will also be more and more. One is a rubber fruit shell, there is a fruit packer outer rubber after rubber skin with brown colour and hard texture. The rubber fruit shell can be utilized and potentially add economic value in a way processed into briquettes as an alternative fuel. This research utilized a waste of rubber fruit shell into briquettes with carbonization processing.The rubber fruit shell carbonized with 600 ⁰C temperature for 2 hours to produce rubberfruit shell charcoal. Rubber fruit shell charcoal made into briquettes mixed with amylum adhesive with a ratio 100: 0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40. The parameters are tested on briquettes moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content and calorific value. The result showed that the optimal composition of the raw 90:10 with a water content 4.63%; ash content 3.74%; volatile matter content 24.20%; fixed carbon content 67.43% and a calorific value 6167 cal/g, repectively. These results indicate that the rubber fruit shell briquettes can be reached the quality standards of Indonesia (SNI No. 01/6235/2000) 3 from 5 parameters.
