Abstract

Speed measurement systems in electric cars with DI-Smart sensor Rotary Encoder based Arduino Uno R3 is made in order to determine the vehicle speed to be taken into account as well as a reference to be careful in driving when the vehicle speed is already too high. This tool uses optocoupler sensor that will read the change logic 0 (low) and 1 (high) in the encoder disc. The way the device works is by counting the number of pulses within one seconds later Arduino Uno R3 as the base data manager will calculate the speed of the motor in units Rotation Per Minute (RPM) and a speed unit Kilometers per hours (KM / h) based on the number of pulses received through the optocoupler. Then the data is displayed to the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). By using this tool is expected to determine the vehicle speed electric car so the driver can calculate the speed of vehicles and can be a reference for safety in driving.
