Abstract
Biogas is one of the alternative energy sources that use raw materials from organic materials. Biogas technology is produced through a process of anaerobic fermentation of organic materials by methanogenic bacteria that produce methane gas (CH4). Biogas production is very closely related to the concentration of Volatile Solid (VS). By using Volatile Solid (VS), we can know the development of microorganisms that degrade organic materials contained in cow manure. The higher the consentration of Volatile Solid (VS), the higher the methane gas and volume of biogas produced. From the research showed the consentration of Volatile Solid (VS) 18.80%, the content of methane gas 1,211 m3 and volume of biogas 1,817 m3. Therefore, the concentration of Volatile Solid (VS) must be kept constant so that the development of microorganisms to degrade organic materials can work well and can produce volume of biogas and methane gas well.
